Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement - 2016

Introduction
This statement has been published in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the steps taken by AmTrust during year ending 31st December 2016 to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chains. Reporting on these issues allows the public, consumers, employees and investors to know what steps an organisation is taking to tackle modern slavery and have greater confidence in the goods and services that they buy.
This Statement applies to AmTrust International Limited and other entities within the AmTrust group of companies as set out below (collectively AmTrust).

Executive Summary
During 2016 AmTrust has taken steps to identify areas where there is any risk of modern slavery occurring within our supply chain to attempt to eliminate that possibility.
We embrace the new legislation and the transparency in supply chains provisions of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and agree with its aims. We have issued a Modern Slavery Policy applicable across AmTrust, approved by the AmTrust International Limited Board, and have commenced risk assessing of our supply chains and service providers
We understand that modern slavery risk is not static and will continue taking actions to mitigate this risk in the year ahead, building on the work already done and including directly engaging our suppliers to do all they can to eradicate it.
We will also assess the effectiveness of the measures taken thus far by reviewing staff training and the measures in place with regard to supply chain due diligence.

We also operate a Whistleblowing Policy, which encourages staff to report any wrongdoing which extends to human rights violations like modern slavery. All reports will be fully investigated and appropriate remedial actions taken.

Due Diligence Processes for Slavery and Human Trafficking
We have zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking. To ensure those in our supply chain and contractors meet our values we have in place systems to:
Identify and assess potential risk areas in our supply chains by conducting risk assessments to determine which parts of our business and which of our suppliers are most at risk of modern slavery so that efforts can be focused on those areas.
Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains by engaging with our suppliers both to convey to them our Modern Slavery Policy and to gain an understanding of the measures taken by them to ensure modern slavery is not occurring in their businesses.
Require potential suppliers to complete questionnaires covering wide areas of their business operations including questions around labour standards.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes AmTrust’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 December 2016. It was approved by the Board of AmTrust International Limited in December 2016.
