Special officers fulfil an important role at the front line of policing and help create safer
communities.

Following a recent Home Office tender, Stuart Harvey, the specialist police insurance broker, is
pleased to announce it has retained the Special Constable Legal Expenses insurance scheme.

The scheme was set up in June 2000 and provides the Special Constables in England and Wales
with access to a solicitor for incidents that arise whilst on duty. Protection is provided with a
£50,000 limit per claim.

Steve Ferris of Stuart Harvey said “Special Constables fulfil an important role in Policing today and
are regularly exposed to hostile situations. It is only right that as volunteers, they have some
protection if they are unreasonably accused of wrong-doing, or are injured in the course of
carrying out their duty. I am very pleased that we have been asked to continue as brokers for this
important scheme”

The scheme is underwritten by Groupama Insurances via Composite Legal Expenses. Composite’s
